Triple Tree Fly-In FAQ

 

Q: How long is the Landing Strip?

A: 7000ft by 400ft. Smooth Grass

 

Q: How long is the area for landing amphibious planes?

A: 1600ft by 200ft. We suggest you come look at the lake before attempting to land there.

 

Q: What are the arrival procedures?

A: There is a link on the main web page called “Aircraft Arrival Suggestions” This page will tell you what you need to know about flying in to Triple Tree.

 

Q: Do you run a Control Tower?

A: No, We do have a Tower and use it as an Advisory Tower. You can and we suggest you contact us (See Arrival Suggestions) by radio on 122.9 when you enter the area.

 

Q: Do the people in the Tower know what they are doing?

A: Yes, The people that run our advisory tower are current Air Traffic Controllers on loan form near by airports.

 

Q: How do you handle Ground Control?

A: We have trained people that will guide you to your parking location and assist you with anything you need a pun arrival. After existing the runway please switch your radio to 122.75 to talk with the ground control people.

 

Q: Can I make a fly-by?

A: This all depends on the traffic at the time of your request. Contact the Tower on frequency 122.9 and request a Fly-by and if at all possible it will be granted.

 

Q: Is there a Landing Fee?

A: Not at this time. Donations are welcome. It takes a lot of money to put on this type of event..

Q: Can I volunteer to help while I’m at Triple Tree?

A: That is up to you. We want you to enjoy your time at Triple Tree and if that includes volunteering we can all ways use the help.

 

Q: I have never been to Triple Tree how do I find my way around?

A: There is a link on the main web page called Triple Tree Layout. This is an aerial photo of Triple Tree with everything marked on it. (It will be updated soon. A few things have changed). Someone will all ways be near the Gazebo to help you. You can also ask anyone you see wearing a Triple Tree Flying Staff Shirt.

 

Q: Is there anything to do in the local area?

A: Yes, For the Lady’s on Saturday we are having a Lady’s Day Out. There is information on the main page of our website. We will be taking you on a tour of Greenville, Dropping you of in downtown Greenville for lunch at Fall for Greenville then stopping by Chandelle Airport Community for a tour of some homes and Dessert.

Also you can venture off on you on for Shopping, Dining, Visiting Local Battle Grounds and Plantation Houses. Check out the link on the main webpage called “Local Information”

 

Q: What is there to do at Triple Tree?

A: Along with the obvious enjoying looking at airplanes and meeting new friends. We have having “Workshops” this year (A schedule will be posted soon.) Also we have cookouts every night. Wednesday night is Hotdogs, Thursday night is bring your own steak and we provide the rest, Friday is a Fish Fry at a local Restaurant, Saturday Morning we will be serving breakfast and Saturday night is the World’s Famous Triple Tree BBQ Dinner. Also hiking / walking trails, some of the best fishing you will ever do on a Forty Acre Lake (Catch and Release only), a smaller lake with bream and bass in it, the Enoree River runs across the back of the propriety and is accessible of all kinds of water recreation.   

 

Q: Do you have Fuel for my plane?

A: Depends on what you burn. We do have Avgas and are looking at installing more tanks that will allow us to supply different types of fuel. We will not be marking up the price of our gas. It will be sold for the same price as the local airports, if not a little cheaper.

 

Q: Can I camp near my plane?

A: Yes, We have plenty of camping sites that allow you to camp with your plane in the shade.

 

Q: What is the charge for camping?

A: $10.00 a day.

 

Q: Can I have a friend meet me at Triple Tree with my Camper?

A: Yes, There are plenty of camping areas for every size and type of camping. Make sure you meet anyone coming in by car that does not have a flying organization card so they want have trouble getting in the gate.

 

Q: Is there a charge for spectators?

A: Yes, $5:00 a head per day. We only charge Men over 12 years old. Women are Free!

 

Q: Can anyone come in as a spectator?

A: No, You have to be a member or a guest of a member of a Flying Organization like: EAA FAA AMA,…  You must show your membership card.

 

Q: Where are the local Hotels?

A: There are several hotels in the local area and we have shuttle busses going to a couple of them. More info to come.

 

Q: Are there rental cars available?

A: Yes, We have a local Car Rental Company that has cars on site at Triple Tree for rent.

 

Q: Is there any place locally for everyday needs.

A: Yes, In the town of Woodruff (About 6 miles away) There is an Ace Hardware, CVS, Dollar Store, Bilo, Food Lion, Freds, and several other small shops. Also KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut, and several other restaurants.
